Seasons greetings, thanks for joining me today! I have just got done eating a plate of brown rice, dark red kidney beans, spinach, and russet potatoes. I have revamped my commitment by watching a movie on Netflix called Forks and Knives where I also discovered the quote and message below:
Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.
An important topic that I want to discuss a bit today is NUTRITION.
I live in Houston, TX where there is an abundance and variety of different foods which makes the city a metropolis for dining however there are inherent benefits and consequences of this rich culinary experience!
One may choose any culture to eat from, there are many venues open 24 hours a day, and fast food is available on practically every block. When convenience becomes critical, healthy decisions regarding nutrition usually go right out of the window!
With this awareness, I realized I needed a new outlook but also I needed to take better actions towards preserving my health through my diet and exercise.
I decided to re-watch Forks Over Knives and honestly I had a high reluctance because I knew it would dramatically effect my eating style. The movie is available on Netflix and is an interesting and fruitful documentary on the power of nutrition.
While applying the wisdom shared in the movie, I have personally learned that:
- If I don’t plan ahead of time on the acquisition and prepping of my meals, I will fail at executing my nutrition agenda.
- I should strive in the mornings to schedule / lay out my meals for the day when I am at my peak willpower.
- I should track my consumption in a nutrition log and water log (MyFitnessPal app) to track my daily count of macro-nutrients such as calories, protein, and fats.
These lessons learned are serving as guideposts to keep me accountable with my SMART goal which is to become a vegan before the end of 2016.
I highly recommend watching this documentary however BEWARE that this production is an eye-opener which has the potential to cause you to seriously reconsider the dietary decisions you are making day-by-day.
I watched Forks Over Knives and now I am trying to be a copycat by using the knowledge to eat correctly and keep my body fueled with clean energy!
All in all, this movie awakened my attentiveness towards nutrition and in the future we will definitely discuss more about this topic.
I do appreciate you for reading. Have you ever considered downloading an app or writing in a journal to keep track of your eating habits?
If not, TODAY is your day. We aren’t getting any younger!
